2013 in Reverse - Part 3 and Final

Some gifts I made in 2013

Funny story here: I made two right feet before I realized my mistake. So, I then made two left feet and gave a pair to my daughter and a pair to my daughter-in-law!!!

The model is a friend, Heather, but I made this shawl and gave
it as a bridal gift to my newest daughter-in-law.

Some things hubby built in 2013

Thanks to the generosity of his brother, Boo Boo built his new road bike.

He built me a castle!!! ....

... and then he buried me alive!!

No, he didn't build the suit of armor, but he used this to build and strengthen testimonies.

It gone!

It was messy, to say the least.

My handyman had to add drywall, mind the gaps,

and smooth the transition.

He worked hard to get a good

match of texture.

Funny story: We suspected that the arches and pillar were decorative.

When BooBoo cut it off, we saw this. It looked seriously fortified, but the floor attachments were a joke. Some swift kicks to the hanging pillar and three broken nails later, it was free from the foundation.

To be a little more reassured, we cut into the overhead arch. Yikes! This looked very reinforced. However, hubby was able to cut it off flush with the ceiling with his saws-all blade without it getting bound up. To make sure it wasn't bearing the weight of the second story and roof trusses, he cut a hole into the ceiling just large enough to stick a head in and see the supporting joists which ran the length of the entire first floor where the wall of the studio met up to the stairwell. Whew! We were safe! Could have been a major disaster.

Thankful the removed pillar wasn't load bearing; best (and gutsiest) remodel decision we've ever made. We love the wide, open space for my piano studio!
