South Padre Island April 11-12
James was a presenter at the South TX Regional Young Adult Conference. The kids and I were tourists at the South Padre Island Pirate Days (35th Anniversary). We attended Sacrament Meeting (Fast and Testimony) on Sunday with the Young Adults at the resort. We boogie boarded, swam, BBQ'd, hung out, and relaxed on Friday and Saturday.

BYU Women's Conference
I used to be a conference junkie: CES Seminary Symposium/Conference, Education Week, Family Expo, homeschooling conferences, etc. Now, I get my fix with an annual mecca to BYU for Women's Conference. Going with my mom, my sister, my daughter, and my in-law equivalents makes it the ultimate, the zenith, the epitome of non-General Conference conferences! What I like best besides the fantastic companionship/reunion of loved ones and the awesome deliverances by seasoned presenters is doing humanitarian aid projects while you listen. This year I crocheted a scarf and edged a baby receiving blanket.
A definite highlight was having President Thomas S. Monson speak at the closing session. His three points were to find joy in the journey, to embrace the opportunities for growth that come from adversity, and to give service with love and kindness. Also, Sheri Dew gave an edifying and inspiring address. She's a personal hero.
Rookie Triathlon
Last Saturday, May 10, I participated in my first triathlon event. My running partner, Carli, talked ten of us into signing up. Only three of those original ten actually competed. I managed to finish the Rookie Tri in 1 hour 10 minutes. I was pleased, considering I rode a bike only once (in January) and never did swim any laps to prepare. At least, I had been running. I would definitely do it again. Only, next time I will train.
