I have been hiding my newfound pasttime from my daughter, Malerie, for a year now (just after she first announced she was expecting). She has recently delivered (because of a miscarriage with her first); and, my surprises have since been presented. Therefore, I am now free to showcase my recently acquired talent of knitting here. Finally! Do allow me to brag a bit on my blog... My first-ever knitting project is a little girl's sweater followed by a cream-colored baby blanket.
After I found out the gender of Malerie's baby, I went to work again and made a boy's sweater. Sometimes working on a single project would get overly repetitious, and I would require a diversion:
I found that I really enjoyed knitting and crocheting dishcloths while "watching" TV and movies with the fam and receiving foot massages simultaneously from my hubby, James. The dishcloths were fast(er) and required little concentration (unlike socks!!!). And, oh by the way, those are Andelyn's feet modeling the socks I gave her for her birthday. She wanted me to tell y'all. (Tee hee, Andelyn.)
These are my favorite cloths (can you tell which ones are knitted versus crocheted?):
For me, it is all about detail - quality, composition, and durability of yarn, tightness and uniformity of stitch, precision of pattern. Simply put: $$$ and time. Finally, the heirloom pieces all receive a special addition - our Family Motto, "You Before Me":
